Who would have known that back in 1991 Ice Cube’s little Oaktown cousin would form the West Coast super team: Hieroglyphics. When I was a young teen these dudes was one of my favorite rap crews. Hiero combined smart, aggressive raps over smooth jazzy harmonies. The eight man collective :Opio, A-Plus, Phesto, Tajai, Casual, Pep Love, Del, and producer Domino were first debut on Del’s album entitled I Wish My Brother George. Since then the crew has released two collective and multiple solo/crew albums. Hiero still continue to tour, drop albums and they also run their independent record label Hieroglyphics Imperium.
